Adams & Martin Group is working with a well established firm to identify a Family Law Legal Assistant for its downtown San Jose office. This full time, onsite role supports a busy family law practice and is well suited for a detail oriented professional with 1 to 4 years of family law experience, strong multitasking abilities, and excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
Attorney and Family Law Support
Provide day to day administrative and legal support to attorneys handling family law matters
Support all phases of family law cases, including dissolution, custody, support, and related proceedings
Serve as a reliable point of contact for attorneys, assisting with workflow management and case progression
Document Preparation and Filing
Prepare, format, revise, and finalize pleadings, correspondence, disclosures, and other family law documents
Proofread documents for accuracy and compliance with court rules
File and serve documents in California family courts, including e filing
Case and File Management
Maintain and organize electronic and physical family law case files
Assist with opening, maintaining, and closing matters in accordance with firm procedures
Track and manage case related documents and required filings
Scheduling and Calendar Management
Manage complex family law calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, mediations, and meetings
Ensure all critical dates are accurately calendared and communicated
Client, Court and Internal Communication
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication in all interactions
Special Projects and Administrative Support
Assist attorneys with case related projects, document revisions, and proofreading
Provide general administrative support as needed to support family law workflows
Qualifications:
1 to 4 years of family law legal assistant experience required
Working knowledge of California family law procedures and court rules
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and time management abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management systems is a plus
Ability to work onsite full time in a collaborative, professional office environment
Work Environment:
Onsite role located in downtown San Jose
Schedule: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
